Cyprus is blessed with beautiful weather due to the intense
Mediterranean climate. The summers in Cyprus are long and
dry, starting in the middle of May until late October. The
average temperature in summer is between 25 and 35 degrees
Celsius. The hottest months are July and August. Humidity
can become quite high as well, mainly in the coastal areas.
In the mountains temperatures are at least 5 degrees lower,
depending on the altitude.
The winters in Cyprus are normally mild, but the weather
is very unpredictable. Sunshine in a clear blue sky can make
room for torrential rains and even tornados in a couple of
minutes. Snow on the Troodos Mountains and other higher areas
is not exceptional. A winter holiday in Cyprus requires to
pack for all kinds of weather, but the reward is a clear atmosphere
(great for photographers), no tourist crowds and the chance
to ski in the morning and have a drink on a sunny terrace
along the harbour in the afternoon. Winter normally starts
in December and lasts until the end of February.
